WRUMS: Wagga Wagga Rural UNSW Medical Society
WRUMS, the Wagga Rural UNSW Medical society, represents the now 70+ medical students based at the Wagga RCS. We were born out of the need for a collective to advocate for rural students as well as facilitating the all-important social activities. Over the years we have grown to include many aspects of student life. WRUMS now covers everything from sport, to academics, social and charities. We have regular social sport and our annual student vs doctor tournament. Our Academic team run several different academic programs, including peer mentoring, peer teaching, mock exams, suturing workshops and more! Social includes all your usual good stuff with one of the highlights of the year being our house crawl to welcome new students. One the things we pride ourselves the most in is our charity endeavours, over the years we have supported a number of grass-roots local charities in a variety of ways, from raffles to coffee carts to blood drives. Charities we have supported over the years include a local mental health charity, Riverina Bluebell, our local women’s shelter, local fire services in the Black Summer of 2019-20, and Country Hope.
