Learning academic content is always going to be central to understanding the broad topic of Medicine. As a student and future doctor an important skill to learn is how to balance this learning with all the other beautiful things the medical community has to offer. This community is something we try to emphasise at UNSW and we hope you feel it through the many experiences and mentoring opportunities we offer but also through the learning community we aim to cultivate. This is on display below with the many hand-made academic resources we have created for future students over the years from student course notes, to comprehensive phase summaries to useful diagrams. If you have any ideas on how we can improve our academic supports please send through an email to academics@medsoc.org.au.
We have put together summaries for what to expect upon entering each Phase of the UNSW Medicine Program. Each Phase comprises 2 years of teaching, with Phase 1 being mainly focused on foundational theoretical knowledge and history taking, Phase 2 focusing on the transition to patient diagnosis and Phase 3 finally rounding out all your prior learning and focusing on patient management. We also have extensive guides on each year of learning which can be found on our Publications page.
Being part of the UNSW Medicine program comes with many academic perks as well but they’re often spread across many mediums and can be tricky to access. To help with that, our team has compiled some student and UNSW acquired resources below.
MedConnex is a separate site that MedSoc uses to collate all our students resources in one centralised hub. If you yourself have a resource for the site please email academicresources@medsoc.org.au!
For the many events we run, most we also record most of them for future enjoyment! We have our own Moodle page where we store these on Echo360 with Faculty’s website.
